Caffè Costadoro

A regional leader and coffee quality champion with international ambitions.

Our first meeting with the management at Costadoro started early in the morning in their on-site café. Our host treated us to an espresso that she prepared in for us on a professional Wega machine, while sharing a few personal brewing tips. Our host offered us a perfect espresso – no surprise since everybody at Costadoro receives professional barista training.
At Costadoro, nothing is left to chance, all is a result of Costadoro’s obsession for perfection. This quintessentially Torinese company whose beginnings date back to 1890, is singular in their pursuit of offering the perfect coffee cup in a tangible and consistent way.

The company invests in quality along the whole journey from green beans to the coffee cup. Its expert coffee buyers travel the world to pick and choose the best green coffee beans at their place of origin. Rigorous lab tests are applied once the selected green coffees reaches the Costadoro warehouses.
Costadoro are very precious about their slow, low temperature roasting process (20-22 minutes at 210-220 degrees Celsius) which ensures that the beans are perfectly roasted, both outside and inside, without any risk of getting even minimally burnt. Every distinct coffee variety is roasted individually in order for it to receive the optimal roasting. Once roasted they undergo a test using a latest technology that scans the roasted beans for color, size and shape – any beans that don’t match the desired profile are discarded. Finally the roasted coffees are blended according to Costadoro’s own blend recipes.

The result of all these extreme quality efforts is amazing – the beans in a Costadoro blend look fantastically homogeneous throughout, which, together with their selection of beans and art of blending, guarantee a great espresso.
Costadoro’s quality has not gone unnoticed. It’s blends have been on the winner’s list of the prestigious International Coffee Tasting Award in the Italian espresso category for every single year since 2006. In addition, its top products are „Espresso Italiano Certified“ by the INEI (Istituto Nazionale Espresso Italiano, the body that sets the scientific standards for italian espresso coffee).

The company focuses on the bar and café sector because they believe that’s where consumers can experience coffee at its best (although we at Caffé del Bar believe that a coffee enthusiast can also get a delicious espresso at home). Costadoro supplies and supports many cafés in Turin (who in turn wear the Costadoro livery) with coffee beans, accessories, and everything around the espresso machine. Costadoro is a key part of Turin woven into the fabric of the city.
