Douce Patisserie - Café

Genova
Covim
On the picturesque Piazza Matteotti square, on the steps of the Palazzo Ducale is Café Douce. It’s modern interior and clean lines contrasts the classic architecture around it and it provided cool and pleasant shade on the hot day we came.

The French maitre patissier Michel Paquier ensures that Douce is a French-style offering in Genova not only in form but in substance.

Brisk and efficient service kept customers for coffee, cakes and snacks well serveds both inside and on the busy seats outside. The coffee lover is here truly rewarded. Douce is one of the very few cafés awarded the coveted “3 coffee beans” rating by Gambero Rosso and is able to turn the great blend from local roaster Covim into exquisite Italian espressos. Douce is one of the finalists of Gambero Rosso’s competition for the 2015 Bar of the Year.

There was a very young and international feel to those sitting down enjoying a coffee when we visited. Extremely well placed in relation to the the tourist traffic, large enough to offer quiet and privacy, and clearly focused on quality, Douce is a welcome stop during a busy day visiting Genova.

Douce Patisserie-Café, Piazza Giacomo Matteotti, 84, 16123 Genova.
